Ceremony marks start of $30 million steam sterilization plant project

Fort Detrick added a critical link in the chain leading to the National Interagency Biodefense Campus today. A small crowd of state and local dignitaries, Fort Detrick leaders and Soldiers gathered today at the future site of the fort's new steam sterilization plant for a groundbreaking ceremony.

House Bipartisan Cosponsors of GI Bill Applaud Approval of Expanded Benefits

For Immediate Release: June 20, 2008

Washington, DC— Reps. Roscoe Bartlett (R-MD) and Steve Israel (D-NY) applauded approval of expanded GI Bill benefits that were overwhelmingly approved by the House of Representatives. Approval by the Senate is also expected. Bartlett and Israel were the lead sponsors of a bill, H.R. 5229, that provided elements of the expanded benefits. Their initiative gained attention after President Bush mentioned in his 2008 State of the Union address that he supported GI Bill transfer rights.

Detrick, Hopkins form training partnership

Johns Hopkins University is teaming up with Fort Detrick to offer a new program for biotechnology graduate students who want to specialize in biodefense.
Under the program, master's students in biotechnology will study part time at Johns Hopkins' Montgomery County campus, while working part time at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases at Fort Detrick.
